About the Event
This event commences on Thursday 20th April 2020 and will run through Term 2 and 3. This Academy is focused on exposing athletes to the Elite Netball Australia Knee Program and the Dare to Develop a Diamond Program for 14-16yr Representative and Development players. Athletes aged 14-16yrs are entering the Intermediate Stage and are training to train. The program will emphasise the building of fitness and specific sport skills and includes physical preparation training, sport specific skill development including perceptual skills, reading the game, tactical introduction and decision making. The emphasis is on training as opposed to competing.
Sessions for the 14-16yr age group will be 2hrs in duration and will incorporate Athlete Wellbeing - Time Management, Nutrition, Recovery, Hydration and Injury Management. Athletes will also have access to an exclusive Locker Room where all documents will be stored at their fingertips.
One of the primary focus areas in this program will be Game Sense Activities - where we will replicate a game like environment to enhance the learning process for both skill and technique development. Players have ownership of the activity. Game Sense utilises a problem-solving approach through the coach's development of the playing environment. By 'playing the game' the coach would be able to set challenges and the players find solutions through activities. This approach allows the participant to determine the best way to achieve success.
THE EMPHASIS WITH A GAME SENSE APPROACH IS ON THE PARTICIPANTS MAKING DECISIONS WITHIN THE GAME, RATHER THAN THE COACH TELLING THE PARTICIPANTS WHERE TO RUN AND WHERE TO PASS. THE COACH BECOMES A FACILITATOR, CREATING SITUATIONS WHERE PARTICIPANTS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO RESPOND TO CHALLENGES THROUGH ACTIVITY AND SOLVE PROBLEMS.
